Watch the instant replay.

Record yourself speaking on your phone or computer. Take notes. Read the notes. Repeat.  The material could be new or old, fact or fiction, doesn’t matter.  Pay close attention to the tone of your voice, the inflection, the word choices and the speed at which you are most comfortable speaking. Also listen for a thesis statement:  were you clear in making your primary point?  Practice makes perfect, so speak, listen, improve & repeat is a great way to grow quickly in the craft of communication as you implement effective changes.

Homework: Record yourself speaking for 7-10 minutes, and watch the instant replay.  Take notes about what you could improve and do it again.  And then one more time.  Wait a day or two and then watch the first take and the last take and be honest with yourself about the ways you improved and the opportunities you have for continued growth.
